48 hour Challenge

Well, USC is at it again gang!! We are headed to another level to launch 2015 off right!! We just announced our first event of the 2015 season and it is going to be one for the record books, literally.

We are going to attempt a 48 hour straight, non-stop RC Hiking event to raise money and awareness for cancer. We could not be more excited than we are right now about this. For so many reasons, which I will go through in this blog.

The details:
A four man 4 remote control hike.
Miles traveled will be a mystery, as we don’t know what we will encounter on the long trail for terrain.
We submitted a form to the Guinness Book of World Records to see if this event is eligible for a world record status! It takes 10 to 12 weeks to get approved or denied, and then the next steps will be announced once we get the news.

When:
May 23rd to the 25th. Memorial Day weekend. We leave Saturday Morning at 7:00am and will be done on Monday at 7:00am.

Where:
The Long Trail in Vermont. The actual spot we leave will he announced at a later date. This is one of Vermont’s premier trails, and is sought after by your avid hikers and outdoorsmen and women.

Sponsors:
CKRC Hobbies
JCM Customs
and room for more.

Why:
Cancer effects us all in some way or another. It has been a drain in our lives for a very long time. We have either battled it, knew someone who has battled it, still battles it, and the worst, lost someone because of it. So when we decided to do something for our community, it was a no brainer as to what we were going to do, we were going to RC. But how?

The process:
We at USC said in the beginning that whatever we did, we would give it 100%, make it as big as possible, and to make it as grand as we can for everyone to enjoy. So, when we decided to create a Relay for Life team for June 19th, we decided we would raise money through our passion, and our hobby of Remote Controls. As Greg, Cory, Rob, and I bounced ideas off each other, we decided that something extreme was the answer, and after much discussion, we went with 48 hours of rcing. Then, came the infusion of doing 48 hours on the Long Trail. One of the toughest hiking trails the Green Mountains have to offer… It was settled, that’s what we were doing.

The Plan:
The next few steps are still being worked out. We have our outlines of what we need to achieve this monumental goal. We are going in as a team, and we are finishing as a team. We will have the same paint scheme for all four trucks, and we will be scaling this adventure out.. Oh did I mention we will not be able to touch our trucks? Yeah, hands free, as we always do at our USC events. So, equipping our rc’s will be more important than ever. We will be needing stuck aids, sand ramps, winches, pulleys, lights, tow straps, batteries etc… The only time we touch the trucks is to work on them, or to change batteries.

Logistics:
Reality sat in, we realized we will need a ton of ground support, aka Chase teams. We will need fresh batteries, and food and water at certain points on the trail. So we are looking for volunteers to be apart of the official USC Chase team. We are taking this adventure on, knowing we will need help, and we know our fellow rc’ers will come through for us.

There will be more coming as the months get closer, and more people get involved. I’ll keep you updated!! Thanks for reading! Support your rc community!!!
